Case study - Marsh McLennan and the City of London Sinfonia orchestra
Background
Marsh & McLennan Companies (MMC) is a global professional services firm and proud principal sponsors of the City of London Sinfonia – one of London’s leading orchestras. As a sponsor, MMC support concerts, education programmes, and learning in music – across the country and inside their business.

The Project role for gsa
A year-and-a-half into the partnership, MMC and CLS were looking at new ways of widening this partnership and further embedding the music of the CLS into the culture of MMC.

gsa was appointed in August 2002. Their role was to offer strategic advice and direction on mission and value statements, defining clear objectives for both meetings and the partnership, and facilitation of meetings that would ultimately formulate a robust marketing plan to take the partnership into 2003/4.
A key consideration for gsa was managing the output from these sessions in terms of the number of new project initiatives that were both achievable and deliverable within budget.

The overall success of this project can be summarized by the way MMC and CLS have worked together to satisfy a broad range of objectives. gsa was highly adaptable and focused on the project and quickly grasped the various dimensions of the partnership and overall business objectives.

Their ultimate skill lies in their ability to develop a creative and innovative approach to problem solving whilst maintaining the discipline needed to formulate a robust marketing strategy and plan.

At the end of the day, their management and inter-personal skills coupled with their enthusiasm for the project made them a valuable partner for this exciting relationship.
